N W Scratch Cup and Summer Meeting at City of Derry Golf Club.

The North West Open Scratch Cup, organised by the N W Committee under the auspices of the Northern District Executive of the ILGU was held this year at City of Derry Golf Club on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th May. Despite the unfavourable weather the 18 hole stroke play qualifying competition was completed on Monday morning with eight qualifying for match-play in the afternoon as follows:-

V Bradshaw (1) (Bangor) v A Chambers (9) (Dunfanaghy).
N Quigg (4) (City of Derry) v C Quinn (4) (Dungannon)
N Currie (4) (Clandeboye) v L McMeekin (4) (Masserene)
D McGowan (3) (Ballybofey & Stranorlar) v H Jones (3) (Strabane)

After heavy rain on Monday night the green-keepers at City of Derry worked very hard to keep the greens in a playable condition and the semi-finals were played on Tuesday morning in very difficult weather conditions. Results as follows:-

N Quigg beat A Chambers – 3/2 and Helen Jones beat L McMeekin 6/4.
Due to the weather conditions the final had to be postponed and will now be played at a date to be agreed in July.

The NW Summer Meeting scheduled for Tuesday was also postponed until July.
