The Austin’s Open was played on Tuesday last and was very well supported with seventy three ladies playing including visitors from eleven clubs throughout the Northwest. Scoring was high in testament to a course which is in pristine condition. A three way break of tie was required to separate the leaders who all scored 39 points with Doreen Bolton just edging ahead to win. The results were 1st Doreen Bolton (24) 39 points BOT, 2nd Christine Mitchell (29) 39 points BOT, Gross Vivienne Houston (6) 24 gross points and 3rd Winifred Black (16) 39 points. The visitor’s prize went to Patricia Devine (21) of Newtownstewart who scored 30 points. The nines went to Frances McLaughlin (25) 19 points BOT and Betty McBride (17) with 20 points. The CSS was 74 and the competition was qualifying with all three main prize winners reducing their handicaps by two shots. The only team in action this week is the Mail on Sunday team who play Northwest at City of Derry on Thursday and Naoimh and her team are wished every success in this local derby. Next week’s competition is Mr David Hamilton’s President’s Prize to the ladies and a draw sheet is on the Ladies’ Notice Board with the draw to take place at 7.00pm sharp on Monday 5th June. All ladies please ensure that their names are on the draw sheet prior to 7.00pm.
