Mr Malachy Doherty’s Captain’s Prize to the Ladies was played for at City of Derry Ladies Branch on Tuesday and with the course in excellent condition and perfect weather the scoring was high.

This year’s most prolific winner Christine Mitchell was playing off 27 for the last time and took the honours with a very impressive 41 points. In second and third place separated by a break of tie were two other ladies who have rarely been off the rostrum this season, Marie Clifford (26) with 37 points and Geraldine Crossan (14) also with 37 points. The CSS was 71 or 37 points. All prize winners are asked to attend the Presentation of Prizes on Malachy’s Captain’s Day on Saturday 8th July at 9.30pm.

There is a Ladies’ Outing to a Ladies’ Open Competition in Greencastle on Thursday 15th July 2006 with 21 tee times reserved from 3.00pm onwards. A bus has been booked and the outing will be on a first come first served basis with 21 places available. Fifteen places are already booked and the remaining six places will no doubt be snapped up very quickly. Anyone interested in coming along please contact Naoimh Quigg as soon as possible.

The Mail on Sunday Team under Naoimh’s captaincy despatched Carrickfergus on Friday last and has now progressed to the all Ireland Semi-finals which will be played within the coming month.

The Northwest Summer Meeting will be held at Royal Portrush Golf Club on Tuesday 4th July with timesheet on display in the Ladies Locker Room.
