Bert Glackin (11) played one of the best rounds of his life in the Prehen Open Cup on Saturday, his round of 66 nett giving him victory by just one shot. Bert made a great start to his round shooting level par for the first nine but he wobbled a bit after the turn dropping two shots in a row at 10 and 11. A fine two at Billy’s steadied the ship only for a double bogey at Aintree to get his heart racing again. Three more bogeys followed but a 77 gross on the day was just too good for the chasing pack.

Ernie Heywood (1) played superbly for second place; his 68 gross included a stunning four under gross back nine. Two younger members of the club took third and fourth place on a tie breaking 68 nett,

Noel Kehoe (5) just edging out Keith Stott (9). Keith will be having nightmares after taking six at the final hole.
