Fred
Stuart (22) has always been considered a good team player, handy in Pro-Ams
and team classics but on Saturday however he proved he could play on his
own too. He won the Michael Doherty sponsored professional’s prize with
a well compiled 41 points albeit on a tiebreak but Fred will be just
glad with his first big tournament win at Prehen and probably with the
resultant handicap reduction. Liam Flanagan (22) was second losing out
on the last three holes on the countback. Ron Grieve (14) finished in
third place with 40 points courtesy of another tiebreak. Ernie Heywood
(1) was once again best of the low men, he scored 34 gross points and
the nines went to Phillip Greer (14), 21 points on the first nine and
Bret Glackin (11) who had an unbeatable 24 points on the home stretch.
