Terence Dunlop (8) recently installed as Prehen’s longest hitting left
hander proved he has the short game too when taking the low category
(0-11) turkey prize on Saturday. A total of 40 points with 23 of them on
the vital back nine gave him the decision on a count back from Mark
Boyce (11). Ken McBride (13) had the best overall score of the day with
his 41 points giving him the category (12-15) prize two points ahead of
Raymond McLaughlin (14) who takes home the consolation bottle of
spirits. In category three (16-18), Jeremy Thatcher (16) needed a tie
breaking decision to win his turkey from former club captain Eddie
Leonard (18), both players scoring 39 points but Jeremy’s excellent back
nine of 23 points tipping the scales in his favour. Ian Gordon (24) will
enjoy his first ever prize at Prehen when Christmas comes, his 40 points
giving him the bird in category (19-28) once again a tie break being
needed to give him the verdict over Jim O Hagan (19). Jim is enjoying a
rich vein of form currently with his fourth prize in as many outings.
