Four over par for the first three
holes was not the start Mickey McCann (17) had planned in his latest
outing at Prehen on Thursday but the battle hardened veteran recovered
well over the remaining 14 holes to record another fine win with an
impressive 37 stableford points. That total left him one point clear of
Paul Coyle (9) the current club championship holder, seven of his points
coming from the last two holes. Prehen’s vice captain and Sunday Society
supremo Terry Phillips (12) took the third spot on 35 points and was
left wondering what might have been except for an unfortunate double
bogey at the penultimate hole.
