Allen Heaney (11) entered the winners
enclosure for the first time in many a long day when taking first place
in the inaugural Baco’s Open at Prehen on Saturday. Allen’s game has
improved immeasurably since his recent acquisition of a metal driver
after years of insisting that he couldn’t get on to them. That lie was
firmly nailed in a sparkling round of 40 points and a tie breaking
decision over second placed Simon Swaby (16). Prehen’s popular club
captain Wilf Donnell (8) also needed a tie break for his third place,
but with 23 of his 39 points coming on the back stretch it was a facile
decision. Leaster Moore (1) took home the gross prize with a fine 70 and
the nines were won by Graham Hepburn (6) and John McIvor (13) with
scores of 20 points bot and 23 points respectively. Always return your
card is a good maxim proved once again when the only visitor to return a
card was rewarded with a prize, the lucky recipient being former member
Paddy Healy now playing out of Ballyliffin. |
