Eleven handicapper Darren Kirk took
pride of place in Saturday’s Dunhugh Cup at Prehen. He had a modest 41
shots to the turn, steady golf considering the competition was played
off the back markers but a very impressive back nine including back to
back birdies and in which he only dropped two shots to par gave him a 67
nett and first place. A triple tiebreak was needed to determine second
third and fourth place. Peter Cassidy (16) was best of the trio on 68
but he was most unfortunate in taking a triple bogey seven at the last
costing him ultimate victory. Third place went to former Fred Daly
stalwart Noel Kehoe (jnr) (5) who went round the course in 73 gross, a
superb best gross score of the day that involved a run of three
consecutives birdies at holes 5,6 and 7. Fourth nett went to Keith Stott
(11) who is surely destined for single figure status before long. |
