Lester Moore
(1) had no less than five birdies in a sparkling round that won for him
the inaugural Pearson’s Turkeys competition at Prehen on Saturday.
Out in 35 shots he tore the back nine
apart taking only 32 strokes for a great winning 41 points. So much for
low men having no chance of winning handicap competitions! Brian
McMacken (15) finished in second place beaten only on a count back and
his card included blanks on two holes. Colin Jeffrey (6) had six threes
on his card for a very steady 40 points to take third place. Fred Young
(8) was fourth on 39 points and the fifth nett went to Martin McCormick
(12) losing out to Fred on a tiebreak. Ricky Porter (16) and Charles
Lynch (16) were best on the nines scoring 21 and 22 points respectively.
