Long serving treasurer of Prehen’s Thursday Society Wilf Abel (15) proved he could manage the course as well as the books when taking first place in this week's competition. Over the thirteen holes played he scored a fine 29 points giving him victory by just one shot from last years golfer of the year Davy Godfrey (14) and the current Foyle Cup holder Bertie Lyttle (14). They in turn were separated on a count back. Relief was expressed all round at the fact that play was possible at all after the recent horrendous spell of bad weather.
