01.02.07 Thursday Society

1st Mark McLaughlin 12 47pts
2nd Michael Carroll 19 46pts
3rd Michael Feeney 9 43pts
Gross Sean Quigg 1 41pts

Truly remarkable scoring was the order of the day in Prehen’s Easter Hamper on Saturday. Michael Carroll (19) must have thought he was home and dry with a superb score of 46 points and 25 of them coming on the vital homeward stretch. But just thirty minutes later one of Prehen’s most promising juniors, Mark McLaughlin (12) handed in his winning card of 47 points having dropped only one shot to par. Mark, winner of The Callaway Junior series of Golf championship last season had just finished a lesson with Sammy Smallwoods, assistant to Michael Doherty when he stepped on to the first tee. Apart from the first prize Mark is now down to single figures and things can only get better. Michael Feeney (9) will soon be overtaking his illustrious cousin Johnny Harding if he keeps up his run of good form, his 43 points earning him third place on a tiebreak. Sean Quigg (1) had the best gross with halves of 33 shots giving him an overall total of 66 and 41 gross points

Hole in One

Shot of the day must surely go to Clive Brolly who holed his eight iron tee shot at "The Crow’s Nest", his first ever hole in one duly witnessed by playing partners Fred Stuart, Brendan Sands and Stephen Meehan
