Heywood in Top Form
The popular Thursday Opens at
Prehen produced yet another magnificent performance last week
when one handicapper Ernie Heywood toured the course in a
mere 66 shots to win the competition. Ernie’s back nine of 24
points included no less than five birdies. Second place went to
Alan Simpson (10) with 41 points. Alan must have thought
his 22 point back nine would have ensured a place but Kaine
Lynch (8) also carded 22 point on the closing holes and a 41
point total to take the decision down to the best back three
holes. That decision went in favour of Simpson and Lynch had to
be content with third spot. Paul Greaves (13) was the
best of those on 40 points and took fourth prize. Ballyliffin
Golf Club’s Oliver Mailey (6) was the best of the
visitors with a fine 36 point tally.
The Thursday Open programme
continues throughout the summer and visitors can enjoy a fine
round for a mere £15 by phoning 02871 311496 to book a tee slot.
