Congratulations! Usual Sunday Society
arrangements apply for prizes. |
With a hard frost on
Saturday having forced competition to be abandoned it was a
sheer delight to find that the frost had been replaced by a
stiff freezing breeze for the Sunday Society. More than 60
players braved the biting winds. By the end of the day it
was John McClafferty (15) who topped the leader-board
with 32 points for his competition thirteen holes.
Steadiness was John’s forte as he amassed 18 points on the
outward holes and 14 points on the way home, highlighted by
a neat birdie at the par 3 15th. Hard on John's
heels on was Clive Brolly (17) with a 31 point total.
Having stormed the outward holes with 21 points Clive
stumbled on the way home and could only call on a further
ten points to add to his tally. Big-hitting Brian Mulgrew
(19) took third spot with 31 points but he too will be
feeling a little disappointed after amassing 21 points on
the opening holes. It took a break of tie over the last six
holes to separate the players in 4th, 5th
and 6th spot who all finished on 29 points. Terry Phillips
(16) just bested
Eddie Mitchell (13) for fourth spot and he in turn found the BOT favoured
him for fifth spot over the ever improving Robert McClay
(21).
The Golfer of the Year
continues to enthral as a contest with Clive Brolly
on 66 points in first place, Gavin Morren with 61
points in second place and John McClafferty on 60
points in third place. But a single slip can see the leaders
topple and the chasing pack is hard on their heels with
plenty of outings still to be played.
