Open week continued with a
massive turnout for the Kelly Fuels Open Stableford. By the end of a
brilliant day for scoring and an even better day for getting a
suntan, it was Thursday Society Secretary Eamon McCourt(9) who found
he had bested the rest of the field with a superb 41 points. Robbie
Kennelly(13) put aside his cold snooker cue and grabbed a hot putter
for an assault on the course that netted him 40 points and second
place. Three handicapper Lester Moore’s 40 points was on the wrong
side of the BOT on this occasion but he still took third spot.
Prehen’s Pocket Rocket, three handicapper Sean Quigg, crafted a neat
39 points to nail down fourth place. Both Sean and Lester will find
that they are now two handicappers!
Scratch player Sean
Morrison’s 39 points for Best Gross will send a message to everyone
that his game is on song for the June 20th Senior Scratch
Cup at Prehen. North West Golf Club’s Brian McCarroll lifted the
Visitor’s prize with 37 points and will regret the odd blemish on
his card that cost him dearly. The Front Nine was taken by John
O’Doherty(15) and the Back Nine by Emmet Boyle(17) both with 22
point tallies.
The presentation for this
competition will be on Friday June 4th at 9.30 when
prizes for the Da Vincis Ramada Hotel Open and Campsie Papers Mixed
Foursomes Open will also be presented.
Saturday June 5th
sees the first running for the City Cabs Open that will be followed
by a presentation and entertainment in the clubhouse. Admission is
free and everyone is invited to join in the festivities.
City of Derry’s Open week
continues until Sunday 6th June and visitors can
book tee times online or phone 02871 311496.
