Paul McGuigan (4) had a
fantastic round in Prehen’s weekly Thursday Open to take the top
prize. A back-to-back birdie start set him up and coming down the last
he was four under heading for a career best score. An unfortunate
double bogey brought him back to reality but his 42 points was out of
reach for he rest of the field. Vincent Devenny (9) made a heroic
effort to catch him scoring 41 points with 25 of them coming on the
back stretch to take second place. Sean Quigg (2) equalled the
winner’s gross score with nines of 35 and 34 giving him 40 points and
third place. The best visitor was John Stewart (11) from Roe Park and
he had a modest 33 points that included no less than three bogeys on
the back nine.
