Sunday Society Golfer of the Year

Two men on their own completely dominated this season’s Sunday Society golfer of the Year competition to an extent never seen before in the 37 years the competition has been running. Outright winner was the man who led from the off, John McClafferty, he was never headed but runner up Alfie Kane kept him under pressure constantly. John’s winning total of 96 points was a record in itself. He finished 11 points clear of Alfie who can take heart from the fact that his points total would have won him the title in any other season. Fred Young was a distant third no less than 35 points between him and the winner. Prizes for this competition and Vinny Morrison’s captain’s day next Sunday will be presented at 9 pm on the same night.
