Brian Stanford (18) took the honours at Prehen on Thursday with an excellently compiled 39 points, no less than 22 of them coming on the second nine. Society skipper Alan Montgomery (19) continues to lead by example collecting his second prize in as many outings with his 38 points. He had a great 20 points on the front nine but a double bogey on ten followed by a blank made him quickly revise his winning speech. Bert Whoriskey (15) belied his age once again (fast approaching 80) and showed a good proportion of his younger rivals a clean pair of heel in taking the third spot on 37 points.
