Ernie Heywood (2) once again
demonstrated his superb golfing skills to great effect in taking first
place in the weekly Thursday Open at Prehen. In a field of over one
hundred he was round in a four under par gross round of 67 (35,32) for a
winning total of 42 points, and that even included a double bogey five
at the first. Who said that the low men have no chance off the yellow
sticks? Late finisher John O'Doherty after a poor start rallied round on
the back nine with 23 points and a total of 41 to take the second prize
on a tiebreak. Reverend Phillip Agnew (4) visiting from Carnalea was
round in one under gross for his 41 points and the fourth spot went to
former member Jimmy Harkin (12) Buncrana with 38 points. The visitor’s
prize went to Gary McDaid from North West on a tiebreak with 35 points.
Prehen is in absolutely superb condition and whether you are playing
good or bad golf you will still enjoy it!
