Martin McCormick (12)
was back to his winning ways at Prehen on Saturday with an emphatic 41
points over 17 holes to claim his Christmas dinner. Two birdies on the
back nine helped him score 23 points on that stretch. In second place
with 39 points, 23 of them also coming on the second nine was Colin
Jeffrey (5) enjoying a golfing renaissance of late and winning a bottle
of spirits for his effort. Foncie O'Kane (17) won his category with 36
points and the spirits winner in that category was Raymond McLaughlin
(15) with 33 points. George Simms (18) also won a turkey in his division
scoring 37 points including a two at the “Quarry” and Liam Flanagan (23)
was the runner up in that division with 33 points. Note: Turkey and spirits competitions are played in categories determined roughly by how many are in each division. Its not written in stone but we try to have a balance so that the same numbers are competing in each class. On Saturday we went from 0-12, 13-17 and 18 -28. There were only sixty entries due to the vagaries of the weather. |
