The popular Da Vinci’s
Hotel sponsored Open was played for at Prehen last Sunday and in
blustery conditions two low handicappers took the major prizes.
Adrian Lecky (5) had no less than five birdies in his gross 70
yielding him a fine 42 points with 24 of them coming on the home
stretch.
Ernie Heywood (1) took second place, his best of the day 67 gross giving him 41 points but more importantly it also gave him a much coveted scratch handicap. Radio Foyle presenter Sean Coyle (22) one of the most improved ball strikers at Prehen stepped on to the podium with a tie breaking 40 points for third place. Promising newcomer Eddie Maxwell (19) took the fourth spot also on 40 points. It took 23 points to win the nines and Sean McKane (17) from Foyle was best on the front nine with Raymond McLaughlin (15) taking the second nine. Best of the ladies was Moira McGee (12) on 37 points. |
