A superb eagle two at the “Valley” Prehen’s most famous hole spurred Mark McIvor to a sparkling 65 nett and a two-stroke victory in Sunday’s Quay West Wine Bar & Restaurant Open Stroke. In second place was young Ciaran Morrison (24) who will be ruing the six shots he dropped over the last three holes but still managed a creditable 67 nett. The evergreen Barney McDaid (13) finished in third place on a tie breaking 68 nett. Johnny Donnell (3) went round in level par gross to win the best gross prize. Two younger members of the club Aaron Taylor (4) and Kealan Quigg (5) took the nines with 35 and
31.5 nett respectively. Best of the ladies was Kathleen Maguire (22) on break of tie 73, just edging out Frances McLaughlin (25) who took second place also on a tiebreak.
