Kealan Quigg (5) one of
Prehen’s most promising young golfers showed just why he is regarded
so highly when he compiled a superb 69 gross for 43 stableford
points and first place in the Save the Children Open at Prehen on
Sunday. His back nine alone yielded him 49 points. In second place
was Vincent Devenney (6) whose 41 points has dropped him into
category one stauts for the first time ever. He was followed home in
third place by newly rejoined member Terence Dunlop (9) with 40
points and Ulster Cup captain John Hancock (12) with 39 points on a
tiebreak. Graham Hepburn (5) had the best front nine with 20 points
and John McIvor (12) took the back nine on 23 points. Best of the
ladies was Christine Mitchell (24) with 39 points finishing one
ahead of hard working office administrator Noreen Allan (30). Third
place went to promising newcomer to the ladies scene Deborah Mc
Eldowney (36) on 37 points. Peggy O’Dwyer (28) won the front nine
with 19 points and Betty McBride took the second nine on 20 points
